Launched in 2004, the E81 is an entry level sports Car by German automotive pioneer BMW. Developed in BMW headquarters in Munich, it shares a variety of structural, chassis, powertrain, hardware and electronic components with the much larger BMW 3 Series. Originally launched as a 5-door hatchback, it experienced an enormous face lift with the launch of the 3-door version in 2007.
And the 1 series BMW E81 has several types of models, such as 116d, 116i, 118d, 118i, 120d, 120i, 123d and 130i. From this article we will consider about them one by one. And the model 116i can produce 91kw power at 6000rpm and 185Nm torque at 3000-4250 rpm. And it has a 6 speed manual transmission system. And has the top speed of 204km/h. The model 118d of the 1 series BMW E81 can produce 106.6kw power at 4000rpm and 300Nm torque at 1750-2500 rpm. And it has a 6 speed manual transmission system. And has the top speed of 210km/h. The model 118i can produce 106.6kw power at 6000rpm and 190Nm torque at 4250 rpm. And it has a 6 speed manual transmission system. And has the top speed of 210km/h.
The first model 116d has maximum permissible load as 1795kg. And it can produce 85.8kw power at 4000rpm and 260Nm torque at 1750-2500 rpm. And it has a 6 speed manual transmission system. And has the top speed of 200km/h. And the model 120d can produce 132kw power at 4000rpm and 300Nm torque at 1750-3000 rpm. And it has a 6 speed manual transmission system. And has the top speed of 228km/h. And the model 120i can produce 126.8kw power at 6700rpm and 210Nm torque at 4250 rpm. And it has a 6 speed manual transmission system. And has the top speed of 224km/h. And the model 123d can produce 152.1kw power at 4400rpm and 400Nm torque at 2000-2250 rpm. And it has a 6 speed manual transmission system. And has the top speed of 238km/h. So far, all of them have engines with 4 cylinders and four valves.
But the model 130i has an engine with 4 valves and 6 cylinders. And it can produce 192.4kW power at 6600rpm and 310Nm torque at 2600-3000 rpm. And it has a 6 speed manual transmission system. And has the top speed of 250km/h. All petrol engine models have 53 liters of fuel capacity and diesel engines have 51 liters of fuel capacity.
The 1 Series is essentially the first in the world to have hybrid technology as standard equipment, although BMW is careful in its marketing not to label it as a hybrid vehicle, as this brings market expectation of electrically assisted drive.
